Experiment determines excitation energy spectrum of 6He using the n + 7Li reaction, highlighting nuclear structure insights.
The results of the kinematically complete experiment 7Li(n, d t)3H performed on the RADEX neutron channel of the Institute for Nuclear Research, Russian Academy of Sciences, at the primary neutron energy of 40–60 MeV are presented. The obtained spectrum of excitation energy Ex(6He) from the threshold of decay into two tritons (12.3 MeV) up to 40 MeV is presented, as well as the results of calculations of binding energies and excitation energies of 6Не in the so-called ab initio approach using the no-core shell model.
