This article analyzes the wear behaviors of steel grinding media affecting comminution and flotation performance in mineral processing, suggesting optimization strategies.
This article examines the multi-mechanistic wear behavior of steel grinding media and its influence on comminution efficiency and flotation performance in mineral processing. The study analyzes the interaction of abrasion, impact, and corrosion mechanisms during wet grinding and evaluates their effects on mineral surface chemistry, pulp conditions, and flotation recovery. The research demonstrates that mild steel grinding media release iron ions and oxyhydroxide species that can reduce flotation efficiency, while high-chromium and ceramic grinding media minimize contamination and improve mineral recovery. The findings emphasize the importance of selecting appropriate grinding media to optimize grinding efficiency, reduce wear-related contamination, and enhance beneficiation performance.
