Biodiversity analysis uncovers important biocontrol agents in ladybird beetles, highlighting environmental implications.
The Coccinellids, commonly called as lady bird beetles belong to the family Coccinellidae of the order Coleoptera. These are often observed in bright coloured with red, orange or yellow elytra spotted with black or yellow stripes. The ladybird beetles are important biocontrol agents and cell sap-sucking insects. Both larvae and adults of insect are predaceous and contribute significantly in natural bio control of many insect pests. Majority of ladybird beetles (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) are important group of biocontrol agents as they prey upon numerous phytophagous insect pests viz. aphids, mealy bugs etc. To improve the crop yield farmers are using chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which kills biocontrol agents like ladybird beetle and causes extensive damage to the environment, which also affects the quality of grains. The Coccinellid beetles has an importance in natural biocontrol agent, it is necessary to study the biodiversity of lady bird beetle. So that present study was undertaken. The present study was carried out during June 2024 to May 2025
