Independently developed ArAva framework improves air quality and oral health in isolated environments, suggesting innovative solutions.
This study presents the ArAva conceptual framework, a portable bio-assisted life-support system using immobilized microalgae designed for confined and isolated environments such as space stations, submarines, emergency shelters, and intensive care units. The system aims to improve air quality, reduce carbon dioxide levels, and provide supplemental oxygen, with potential applications in oral health and dentistry. The paper reviews scientific foundations, presents realistic numerical analyses, and discusses future research pathways and ethical considerations. This work represents an independent conceptual research project conducted without access to laboratory facilities, demonstrating interdisciplinary innovation bridging biotechnology, engineering, and clinical applications.
