Documents soil fauna diversity in wetlands, implying a basis for biodiversity conservation.
Soil fauna play a critical role in ecosystem material cycling and energy flow, and are essential for maintaining soil health and biodiversity. Based on field surveys conducted in 2023 in the Tsagaan Nuur National Wetland Park and Minle Nao within the Chahan Tsagaan Nuur Basin wetland in Ulanqab City, this study systematically documents soil fauna species in the basin and compiles a conservation inventory dataset. The dataset covers 10 orders and 75 families of soil fauna, with a total of 2,018 individuals identified. It includes information such as the basin name, along with Chinese and Latin names at the family, order, class, and phylum levels. All data were obtained through standardized field sampling, laboratory identification, and cross-verification procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness. The findings of this survey provide a robust scientific foundation for biodiversity conservation, ecosystem function assessment, and restoration of degraded ecosystems in the region.
