Blue Schools in practice: how European classrooms explore water and ocean challenges

This article, published in Science in School, presents the EU Ocean and Waters Mission Projects ProBleu, SHORE and BlueLightS' educational approach to bringing water and ocean literacy into classrooms across Europe. It introduces the Blue Schools concept and showcases how teachers and students can engage with real-world water and ocean challenges through inquiry-based learning, citizen science activities, and interdisciplinary educational resources. The article highlights practical examples, classroom activities, and opportunities for schools to contribute to environmental awareness and sustainable ocean stewardship, supporting the Mission goals and development of the European Blue Schools Network.
