Investigates cost impact of balancing energy supply and demand in air conditioning systems, suggesting significant savings in operational costs.
This study investigated the effect of balancing power supply and demand in the posi-watt thermal storage air conditioning system among different buildings and years. Air conditioning loads were estimated from the whole building power consumption data measured by smart meters. Adequate water capacities were determined as 3–7.5 tons for each condition. Energy simulation results indicated that the operational electricity price in the proposed system was 6.5–21% lower than that in a conventional air conditioning system. The effect of balancing the supply and demand was more significant when cold water was produced at lower prices.
