Study assessed structural performance and costs of repairing steel connections after earthquakes, indicating effective methods.
This paper studied effective repair methods for H-shaped steel beam-column connections with fractured beam flanges under earthquake considering not only structural performance but also repair time and repair cost. First, a cyclic loading test was conducted to reveal the structural performance of the original and repaired specimens, which were taken out from an existing steel building constructed in the early 1970s. Next, the repair time and repair cost were compared among several repair methods, based on hearing survey to a steel fabricator.
