Research examines Islamic astronomy's role in developing a global educational system, highlighting transformative potential.
HRMARS - This research examines Islamic astronomy as a pivotal field of knowledge through which Islamic civilization contributed to the formulation of the global scientific system. Its role extended beyond theoretical dimensions related to stellar and planetary observation, evolving into an integrated civilizational project interconnected with religion, education, mathematics, navigation, and calendar formulation. The study focuses on highlighting the role of Muslim scientists in developing astronomical knowledge, correcting ancient theories, and constructing observatories and scientific instruments, which positioned Islamic civilization as a global center for astronomical knowledge during the Middle Ages. Furthermore, the research discusses the educational framework supporting Islamic astronomy, the role of mosques, libraries, and observatories in transmitting and developing knowledge, and the relationship between astronomy and the scientific identity of Islamic civilization. The paper also addresses digital transformation and its impact on advancing astronomy education through the deployment of modern technologies, such as augmented reality, interactive platforms, and e-learning, to simplify astronomical concepts and enhance scientific engagement. It analyzes the prerequisites for transforming Islamic astronomy into a global educational hub, clarifying the importance of scientific infrastructure, international partnerships, institutional support, curriculum development, and investment in scientific research and technology. Additionally, several challenges facing this transformation are outlined, including weak scientific funding, limited Arabic digital content, poor integration between educational and technological institutions, and global competition in space and astronomical sciences. The study concludes that Islamic astronomy represents a cognitive and civilizational asset that can be utilized to construct a contemporary educational model combining scientific heritage with modern technology, thereby enhancing the position of the Islamic world in education, scientific research, and innovation, provided there is a strategic vision based on institutional development, support for scientific research, and the promotion of astronomical literacy within society.
