ECF IV: The Principle of Correlation Extrema — The Triple Convergence of Mathematics, Physics, and Information

Version 3. 0 represents a focused methodological and technical upgrade that aligns ECF-IV with the v3. 0 releases of ECF-I, ECF-II, and ECF-III, while correcting one mathematical inaccuracy and strengthening the rigor of the central uniqueness proof. No core theorem statements, conclusions, or the overall framework architecture have been altered. Primary changes in v3. 0: 1. Kernel boundary behavior corrected (§4. 1. 3). The explicit symmetric kernel Φ_λ = I − λ (1−λ) (I − J/N) was previously described as satisfying Φ₁ = J/N (complete synchronization). In fact Φ₁ = I (complete independence). The corrected version clarifies that the effective coupling strength is governed by ν (λ) = λ (1−λ), which vanishes at both endpoints and peaks at λ = 1/2. Honest notation is added to identify this kernel as one specific parameterization of the simplest functional family, not the general form. 2. Uniqueness proof strengthened (§4. 3, Part IV). The original proof inferred the uniqueness of Ω's minimum from the uniqueness of the zeros of S′ and I′ individually. This argument is logically incomplete (two functions can have unique zeros while their linear combination has additional zeros). The revised proof establishes strict monotonicity of Ω on each side of λ = 1/2: on (0, 1/2), both terms of Ω′ are strictly negative, so Ω strictly decreases; on (1/2, 1), both terms are strictly positive, so Ω strictly increases. Combined with boundary divergence, λ = 1/2 is uniquely identified as the global minimum. 3. Terminology aligned with ECF v3. 0 series. All references to "metricization, " "continuity condition, " and older theorem numbering are upgraded to the v3. 0 language of "Dedekind–MacNeille completion, " "strength preorder completion, " and current theorem numbering. The anchoring of the fixed point by self-consistency, finite-step inaccessibility, and the irreversible arrow of time as a never-completed completion are integrated throughout. 4. Self-referential singularity reclassified (§6. 3). The proposition on Ω's self-referential singularity is reclassified from B/C-tier to D-tier (heuristic structural analogy). The Cauchy-Riemann condition is replaced by a more accurate qualitative description of directional variations. 5. Honest notation enhanced throughout. Key additions include: explicit identification of the kernel as a specific parameterization (§4. 1. 3) ; separation of general boundary behavior from kernel-specific boundary behavior (§4. 3 Part II) ; tier labels on all core theorems; priority labels on open problems (near-term / long-term) ; and a statement of originality for the information capacity definition (§2. 4). 6. This version upgrade corrects inaccuracies and strengthens rigor without altering any conclusions.
