This collection of short stories explores the impact of witnessing death in a community, highlighting personal narratives.
This is an interconnected collection of short stories, centered around death, religion, place, family, and home through the perspective of six people that witness a tragic and sudden death of an old man on the street. While none of them know one another, apart from the old man's daughter, they become inherently linked in their own individual stories by the act of witnessing this tragedy, and by the waterways and land that comprise their home. Deeply embedded in the folkways and set in Swannanoa, NC, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this collection is intended to tell the stories of many that go unheard or forgotten altogether. Lost down the rivers and tributaries of larger society, and hidden in the deep and dark hollows of mountains as ancient as time itself.
