Plaque burden is a key driver of adverse cardiovascular outcomes in patients with established coronary artery disease (CAD) [1]. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) have consistently reduced major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in large outcome trials among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) at high cardiovascular risk [2–4]. However, their role in patients with angiographically or imaging-confirmed coronary plaque, independent of glycemic status, remains less well defined. We sought to evaluate the real-world impact of GLP-1 RAs on cardiovascular outcomes and metabolic parameters in this population.
