Economic development dynamics in Siberian regions in the context of depopulation trends

This article examines depopulation as a key factor hindering the economic development of Siberian Federal District regions. The authors note that, against the backdrop of nationwide interregional differentiation, the situation in Siberia is exacerbated by persistent natural population decline and migration outflow, particularly among working-age citizens. The paper provides a detailed analysis of the indicators and various causes of depopulation across the Siberian Federal District and their impact on the economic development of individual territories. A number of disparities are identified, including the combination of official unemployment with an acute labor shortage, the aging of scientific and educational potential, and the decline of small towns. To improve the effectiveness of state strategic plans to enhance the investment attractiveness of Siberian regions, the authors propose systemic measures to overcome depopulation and ensure economic growth.
