Key result
LMWH transitioned to apixaban reduces right atrial thrombus and enables safe chemotherapy completion.
Why the study?
Thrombotic events detected prior to systemic treatment initiation in hematologic malignancies are uncommon, and intracardiac thrombosis is a rare and diagnostically challenging manifestation.
Population
One 21-year-old woman with newly diagnosed classical Hodgkin lymphoma and an asymptomatic right atrial mass
Design

Rare pre-treatment intracardiac thrombosis in Hodgkin lymphoma warrants clinical awareness; case reports leave open systematic incidence and management studies.
Case Report (n=1)

This case highlights the utility of multimodality imaging in diagnosing right atrial thrombus in lymphoma patients and demonstrates successful management with anticoagulation.
Giordano et al. (2026) conducted a case report in Classical Hodgkin lymphoma and right atrial thrombus (n=1). Anticoagulation (LMWH and Apixaban) was evaluated on Thrombus reduction and completion of chemotherapy. Anticoagulation therapy with low-molecular-weight heparin transitioned to apixaban resulted in progressive reduction of the right atrial thrombus and allowed safe completion of chemotherapy.
