Riding the waves: An aldehyde triggers oriented long-range crystallization of self-assembling fibrous diphenylalanine peptide networks (see picture). The crystal growth is self-adjustable and likely subject to kinetic regulation, which leads to the 3D confinement of uniaxially oriented substructures in the resultant crystal.
