New research finds that banning smartphones during the school day may bring modest improvements in student behavior but does little to address underlying mental health or attention concerns. The study, published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry , and in the form of a Letter to the Editor, observes the results of the first year of Brazil's national restriction on smartphones to reduce classroom disruptions among students.
