Case report showcasing the safety and efficacy of radiofrequency ablation in treating neurofibromas.
Neurofibromas are benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors and are a hallmark of neurofibromatosis type 1. Symptomatic lesions are traditionally managed surgically, but resection is invasive and carries risks of postoperative neuroma formation. This case report describes a patient with a painful right rectus sheath neurofibroma treated successfully with ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA). This suggests that percutaneous RFA may represent a safe, minimally invasive alternative to open surgery.
