Reveals chloroplast genome characteristics in Scutellaria cypria, indicating its phylogenetic position among related species.
Scutellaria is one of the largest genera of Lamiaceae, and some species are widely used in traditional medicine in East Asia and for ornamental purposes. We present a complete chloroplast genome for Scutellaria cypria using both long- and short-read sequencing data. The genome comprises 151,983 base pairs (bp), including a large single-copy segment of 83,948 bp, a small single-copy region of 17,553 bp, and two inverted repeat regions of 25,241 bp. Phylogenetic analysis of the chloroplast genomes from 13 Scutellaria taxa, including S. cypria, and one outgroup showed that S. cypria is a sister to all other Scutellaria taxa examined in this study.
