Astronauts Are Amazing Leaders

I didn’t know Rick Husband personally. We went to high school at the same time in the same town, but he attended my rival high school. Now he stands on a granite base, cast in bronze, at the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport in Texas. Husband was the commander of the Space Shuttle Columbia, which came apart while reentering the Earth's atmosphere on February 1, 2003, near Dallas. His body, as well as the bodies of the other six Columbia astronauts, was recovered in East Texas, and he was laid to rest in his hometown of Amarillo. Rick was a respected leader.
