Examines mtDNA mutations and survival in high-grade serous ovarian cancer, suggesting prognostic value.
Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is a compact, high copy genome with little genetic redundancy. Heteroplasmy reflects a heterogenous mix of mutant and wildtype alleles per cell. MtDNA mutations are prevalent in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC), with heteroplasmy levels predictive of survival. We examined the HGSOC mtDNA mutational landscape for mutational burden and patterns.
