Evaluates gas production in oxyhydrogen electrolyzers, indicating performance optimization opportunities.
Water electrolysis is one of the available methods of producing hydrogen gases. However, the importance of having stable operating conditions is to attain consistent performance and reliability of the system. In this study, the operational stability of the electrolyzer with 1 molar potassium hydroxide (KOH) as electrolyte is being tested and measured under constant current of 40A and varying limiting voltage. The primary parameters were monitored such as cell voltage, current behavior, electrode temperature, electrolyte temperature and gas rate production. The results showed that the voltage is consistent within the range of 2.5V and 3V, it signifies that the electrochemical operation is stable. The results also show that the relationship between current and gas production is significantly relative.
