Investigates the impact of Long Covid on mental health, highlighting its association with depression and anxiety.
This study investigated the association between depression/anxiety and Long Covid. 2726 participants who tested positive for COVID-19 responded to an electronic survey on Long Covid and function ≥12 weeks post-infection. People with preexisting depression/anxiety were twice as likely to develop Long Covid as those without. Being female and of a younger age were associated with the development of Long Covid mental health symptoms. Participants with Long Covid depression/anxiety were more likely to report a decline in participation in personal care, employment, and cognitive function. The findings provide insights into the impact of Long Covid on mental health and its functional outcomes.
