Review reveals that nasoseptal flap affects postoperative quality of life, suggesting the need for further investigation.
This review presents the current state of the problem of using the nasoseptal flap in adults and children for transnasal endoscopic interventions. The most common changes in the nasal cavity after harvesting of the nasoseptal flap, as well as their impact on the quality of life in the postoperative period in children and adults, are described. Intraoperative techniques that can reduce the negative impact of the nasoseptal flap harvesting and features of postoperative monitoring are clarified. Most publications, which are devoted to quality of life assessment after using the nasoseptal flap have shown a certain trend: quality of life worsens in the short term and then returns to the baseline level. However, some results are contradictory, so further studies with larger samples are needed.
