Numerical study evaluates ballistic performance against small-caliber threats, suggesting enhanced protective solutions.
The mitigation of small‐caliber kinetic threats through advanced ballistic protection systems continues to be a significant area of research. This study presents a numerical assessment of the ballistic performance of a multilayer armor package composed of alumina ceramic and Kevlar 29 fiber. The investigation aims to characterize the penetration behavior and evaluate key impact parameters resulting from the interaction with a 7.62 × 51 mm caliber projectile. By analyzing stress distribution, energy absorption, and material failure mechanisms, the study contributes to the optimization of protective solutions for enhanced ballistic performance.
