SODAsim models discrete and cellular automata processes, highlighting versatile simulation capabilities.
SODAsim is used for modeling autonomous discrete or cellular automata using a standalone Python GUI hosted on GitHub. The step-by-step format guides the user through the creation of an array of regularly connected shapes and design of a state diagram. Unlike traditional cellular automata, SODAsim may optionally include named numerical values, called properties, facilitating simulation of processes such as contagious illness, pathfinding, and tissue morphogenesis. Single line statements supplied by the user define the operation of the system and employ typical programming functions, as well as custom SODAsim functions and syntax that allow a great degree of complexity. The simulation viewer at the end displays computed time steps in sequence and has multiple viewing options to visually capture phenomena of interest. Simulation parameters and steps may be saved and loaded as needed.
