This review highlights the use of high-throughput transcriptome analysis to understand the molecular therapeutic mechanisms of statins in heart failure.
Does not yet support routine statin use in heart failure; hypothesis-generating and requires validation in prospective trials.
The etiology of heart failure (HF) is multifactorial and a variety of mediators are involved in its progression. Thus, elucidation of transcriptome complexity and understanding the functions of differentially expressed genes, together with therapeutic molecular mechanisms underlying development of HF, are a major focus of HF research. A recent metaanalysis demonstrated that statin therapy reduced the risk of hospitalization and death due to HF.

Wada et al. (2018) studied Tachycardia-induced heart failure (n=18). Pitavastatin vs. Vehicle was evaluated on Left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVedp) (p=<0.05).
