Abstract This article examines how digital transformation drives business model innovation within professional service firms, using legal services as an illustrative case. LegalTech, positioned at the intersection of law and digital technologies, represents a sector‐specific expression of digital transformation that operates simultaneously as a catalyst and an outcome, disrupting established modes of value creation and delivery. Based on a qualitative study of France's evolving LegalTech ecosystem, the findings point to a profound structural shift from traditional, bespoke legal services toward platform‐based solutions and increasingly heterogeneous business model trajectories. Rather than converging on a single dominant model, firms experiment with diverse configurations that recombine professional expertise, technology, and new forms of intermediation. The article contributes to the literature on digital transformation and business model innovation by demonstrating how industry‐specific business model innovation drives digital transformation in professional services.
