Demonstrates how tissue-like P systems can generate octagonal pictures, bridging two areas in computer science.
This paper unites two distinct areas of theoretical computer science — membrane computing and picture languages. Membrane computing explores distributed computational models inspired by the structure and functioning of living cells. P systems generating rectangular arrays have been studied extensively. Later Dersanambika et al. introduced a P system generating hexagonal picture languages. In this paper we illustrate how a variant of Tissue-like P systems can be used to generate octagonal pictures.
