Review evaluates Shilajit's effects on bone health in individuals from Ayurvedic and modern perspectives, suggesting potential benefits.
Bone health is vital for maintaining body structure, mobility, and overall well-being. Disorders like osteoporosis, fractures, and degenerative conditions are increasing due to aging, nutritional deficiencies, and sedentary lifestyles. In Ayurveda, bones are described as Asthi Dhatu, and their degeneration is mainly linked to the aggravation of Vata Dosha. Shilajit, a classical Rasayana drug, is traditionally indicated for Asthi Dhatu disorders, weakness (Daurbalya), and degenerative diseases. Modern research shows that it contains fulvic acid, humic substances, and essential minerals that support bone metabolism and mineral absorption. This review evaluates the role of Shilajit in maintaining bone health from both Ayurvedic and modern scientific perspectives.
