16S rRNA gene sequencing was conducted to profile the microbial composition in oral and fecal samples collected from mice. In this experiment, all experimental mice were randomly divided into two groups: the solvent control group and the esomeprazole intervention group. Mice in the intervention group were administrated with esomeprazole for drug treatment, while the control group received an equal volume of corresponding solvent without drug intervention. After a period of continuous treatment, oral swabs and fresh fecal samples were separately harvested from each mouse. Microbial genomic DNA was extracted from all specimens and subjected to 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. The acquired sequencing data were applied to analyze microbial diversity, community structure and species abundance differences between the two groups. This work aims to explore how esomeprazole affects the gut and oral microbiota of mice.
