Randomized trial examines how corporate biodiversity affects sustainable growth in Chinese listed companies, suggesting pathways for improvement.
This study aims to examine the impact of corporate biodiversity attention on sustainable growth of Chinese listed companies from 2007 to 2022. In addition, this study explores the mediating effects of environmental, social, governance (ESG) performance, corporate reputation, and green transformation between them. Corporate biodiversity attention is measured by text analysis, and fixed effects models are used to do the analysis. The results reveal that corporate biodiversity attention can improve corporate sustainable growth. This impact is more significant in private companies, in central and western regions, in companies with executives having a financial background, and in nonhigh‐tech companies. In addition, ESG performance, corporate reputation, and green transformation have mediating effects in the relationship between corporate biodiversity attention and sustainable growth. The findings will provide some fresh insights for managers to achieve corporate sustainable development.
