New species of Californiphilus show increased diversity in central and southwest China, implying rich ecological variations.
Three new species of the soil centipede genus Californiphilus Verhoeff, 1938 (Geophilomorpha, Himantariidae) are described from central and southwest China: C. cryptoporus Yang, You & Jiang, sp. nov . from Jiangxi Province, C. hubeiensis Yang, You & Jiang, sp. nov . from Hubei and C. nanus Yang, You & Jiang, sp. nov . from Hubei, Hunan and Chongqing. Detailed morphological descriptions, illustrations and a key to the species of the genus are provided. In this study, three new species of Californiphilus are described from central and southern China. This contribution increases the documented diversity of the genus in China and provides new morphological data.
