Technical solo founders routinely spend prolonged periods operating at the implementation layer of software development, where attention is dominated by debugging, architecture refinement, feature iteration, infrastructure, and countless micro-level engineering decisions. While this deep immersion is fundamental to building complex software systems, its potential cognitive consequences have received little explicit conceptual attention. This paper introduces Founder Dissonance, a conceptual model describing a temporary cognitive phenomenon in which prolonged implementation immersion may reduce a technical solo founder's ability to rapidly reconstruct and communicate the strategic, high-level purpose of their own product when unexpectedly addressing non-technical audiences. Rather than representing a loss of knowledge or expertise, Founder Dissonance is hypothesized to emerge from temporary context saturation, where implementation-specific cognitive representations compete with the founder's ability to perform rapid strategic abstraction. The proposed model argues that the observable communication difficulty is not the phenomenon itself, but rather its external manifestation. The underlying mechanism is proposed to be a temporary failure of abstraction switching: the cognitive transition required to move from implementation-level reasoning toward executive-level, product-oriented explanation. Consequently, founders experiencing Founder Dissonance often retain complete technical understanding of their systems while momentarily struggling to articulate product value, customer outcomes, or business purpose in a concise and accessible manner. Founder Dissonance is presented as a conceptual framework rather than an empirically validated theory.
