Randomized trial shows neuropeptide Y enhances growth in freshwater angelfish, suggesting dietary interventions may improve aquaculture.
To elucidate the regulatory mechanisms of heterologous neuropeptide Y (NPY) on growth in freshwater angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare), a 30-day feeding trial was performed. Fish were fed either a control diet or a diet supplemented with 10 mg/kg of recombinant Paralichthys olivaceus(flounder) NPY. Integrated analyses encompassing growth phenotypes, physiology, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and gut microbiota were conducted.
