This conceptual paper proposes an ontological framework for understanding consciousness and its relation to physical phenomena, indicating new perspectives on existence.
This paper attempts to show where consciousness arises from and how it relates to awareness, qualia, irritability, and action. For this purpose, it presents no new empirical finding; rather, by rearranging validated findings from different fields into a single architecture, it proposes an ontological formulation of the relation among them. The starting point is three foundational unknowns of contemporary physics, each pointing to a hidden layer: the nature of the vacuum's capacity, the nature of dark matter, and the origin of mathematics' rule over the universe. This paper reinterprets these three problems as starting points for formulating a pre-phenotypic layer, a layer in which raw capacity has not yet turned into matter or a stable pattern. D-TOC formulates this layer through the concept of the D-Token: a fundamental unit with two capacities, attraction and oscillation, whose interaction gives rise to pattern, stability, threshold, and phenotype. D-TOC is an ontological language for explaining the transition from raw capacity to stable, readable forms. On this basis, the paper situates consciousness at the level of the pattern itself, distinguishing it from awareness, qualia, irritability, and action, which are understood as phenotypes rather than the pattern itself.
