Reveals increased social connection and positive health outcomes in youth through Movement Mentors.
Youth and young adults in the United States are experiencing dual public health problems, physical inactivity and loneliness. Objective: The purpose of this manuscript is to present a logic model for Movement Mentors, a student organization that engages undergraduate students as active role models for youth in the community to increase social connection and promote positive health outcomes. Methods: A team of students, staff, and faculty who have been directly involved with creating and implementing Movement Mentors developed this model using a blend of theory approach and outcomes approach models. Results: The number of undergraduate students serving as movement mentors and the total community service hours have increased annually from 2021 through 2024–2025. The logic model describes internal and external resources and conditions that may be required to produce hypothesized outcomes. Conclusions: This logic model will provide a framework for evaluating the impact of the Movement Mentors organization.
