ABSTRACT This paper presents a peridynamic elastoplastic damage analysis of hull stiffened panels under blast loads. An efficient symmetric modeling method integrating OpenMP and fast horizon search algorithms is proposed to improve computational efficiency. The model's applicability to Mode I and Mode II dynamic fractures is validated against the Kalthoff–Winkler benchmark and uniaxial tensile tests. Simulations of three panel configurations—unstiffened, longitudinally stiffened, and with longitudinal and transverse stiffeners—reveal distinct damage evolution patterns, with the latter showing the most controlled damage. Furthermore, a common failure mechanism is identified: boundary constraints induce sharp normal displacement gradients, which promote plastic hinge formation and boundary tearing. The severity of this failure mode increases with the TNT equivalent.
