The avifaunal diversity of an irrigated agricultural landscape in northwestern Mexico was evaluated by analysing species richness, community structure, and seasonal variation. The study was conducted over a full annual cycle (October 2024–September 2025) using fixed‑radius point counts at 20 sampling sites distributed across irrigation canals, agricultural drainage ditches, and crop fields. A total of 135 species were recorded, belonging to 21 orders and 50 families, with Passeriformes being the most dominant group. Functional composition was characterized by a predominance of insectivorous, granivorous, and piscivorous guilds. Diversity indices indicated a structurally complex community (Shannon H′ = 2.87; Simpson 1–D = 0.87), while non‑parametric estimators (Abundance-Based Coverage Estimator (ACE) = 141.3; Chao 1 = 140.5) suggested high sampling completeness (>95%). Seasonal variation showed that diversity peaked in autumn and declined in winter, reflecting the influence of agricultural dynamics and hydrological events on habitat heterogeneity. These results demonstrate that the system maintains relatively high avifaunal diversity compared with many simplified agricultural landscapes and highlight the importance of conserving hydro‑agricultural infrastructure and implementing agroecological practices to support biodiversity within productive systems.
