Review explores pyrrole synthesis using eco-friendly solvents and iron nanoparticles, suggesting greener pathways.
Pyrrole and its derivatives have occupied a vital role due to their diverse applications across scientific disciplines. The development of pyrrole scaffolds via green methods is highly demanding nowadays. In this context, green solvents (H 2 O, EtOH and EtOH:H 2 O) and green catalysts (Fe based NPs) have attracted significant attention from organic and medicinal chemists towards the synthesis of pyrrole based molecular architectures. The past decade has witnessed the role of eco-friendly solvents and eco-friendly catalysts in the synthesis of pyrrole derivatives. The dual-green combination has offered various advantages, like a toxic metal/catalyst-free approach, high yields, a brief reaction time, broad substrate compatibility, and the reusability of the catalyst. The current summarization strongly addresses the hidden potential of eco-friendly solvents and green catalysts towards the development of pyrrole-based molecular hybrids. The current review elucidates the synergistic role of green solvent-solvated and Fe nanoparticle-catalyzed strategies for the construction of pyrrole derivatives.
