Demonstrates a novel synthesis route of isoquinoline derivatives, highlighting operational simplicity and mild conditions.
A photoinduced three-component radical sulfonylation/cyclization cascade reaction has been developed for the construction of 4-(sulfonylmethyl)isoquinoline-1,3(2 H,4 H )-diones. Specifically, aryltriazenes were employed as the aryl source, while 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane-1,4-disulfinate (DABSO) served as a convenient solid “SO 2 ” surrogate. Upon irradiation with purple LED, arylsulfonyl radicals are in situ generated, which subsequently undergo radical addition/cyclization with acryloylbenzamides to afford the target products. Notably, this protocol exhibits prominent advantages, including operational simplicity, mild reaction conditions, stable and readily accessible starting materials, as well as the avoidance of oxidants, photocatalysts, and additional additives.
