Examines how fill percentage affects surface roughness in 3D printed parts, suggesting optimal manufacturing parameters.
Currently, interest in 3D printing technology has increased significantly. Fused deposition modeling (FDM) has become the most popular method, but obtaining optimal results requires special attention in the choice of manufacturing parameters. The present research focused on the impact of variation of these parameters on the roughness of 3D parts made of ABS. Optimal parameters (fill percentage and printing direction) were identified to obtain the best possible roughness of the contact surface between the mold and the printing platform. The optimized approach contributes to favorable design conditions for design, promoting sustainable manufacturing by reducing the total material consumption.
