This review summarizes advances in hydroalkylation reactions, emphasizing efficiency and mechanism in synthesis.
Alkenes are a fundamentally important class of bulk chemicals and have emerged as some of the most versatile synthetic building blocks in modern organic synthesis. In recent years, the rapid development of photocatalysis strategies has provided new approaches for the transformations of alkenes. Among these, the hydroalkylation reactions involving alkenes, characterized by its directness, high efficiency, and excellent atom economy, has emerged as an important method for constructing α‐alkylation carbonyl compounds and has attracted considerable attention. In this review, we focus on recent advances in visible‐light‐driven hydroalkylation reactions between unactivated alkenes and carbonyl compounds, systematically summarizing both intermolecular and intramolecular hydroalkylation processes, along with discussions of their reaction mechanisms and synthetic applications.
