Randomized trial demonstrates efficient difluoromethyl and boron group installation in alkenes, suggesting broader applications in pharmaceuticals.
We herein describe a copper-catalyzed difunctionalization of unactivated alkenes that enables the simultaneous installation of difluoromethyl and boron-containing groups under mild conditions with excellent chemoselectivity. This strategy combines the favorable pharmaceutical properties of the difluoromethyl group with the versatile derivatization potential of the organoboron unit, thereby providing an efficient and modular approach to structurally diverse and potentially bioactive difluoromethylated molecules.
