Abstract We performed a bibliometric analysis of myocarditis publications from 2000 to 2024, with the aim of synthesising current research and identifying emerging trends in the field. We retrieved scientific publications on myocarditis from the Web of Science (WOS) database spanning from January 2000 to December 2024. Only English-language original articles and reviews were included. Relevant information such as journal and publisher details, titles, authors, organisations, abstracts, keywords, publication dates and citation counts was extracted. We then conducted bibliometric analysis and visualised the results using R software and Microsoft Excel. The WOS database search yielded 15,387 records on myocarditis, comprising 12,566 articles and 2821 reviews. These publications were from 133 countries and regions, 12,490 research institutions and 64,899 scholars. The annual number of scientific publications on myocarditis increased at a rate of 6.75%. We further analysed the top ten contributing countries, research organisations, influential researchers, most cited articles and frequent keywords associated with myocarditis. Keyword trend analysis identified the most active research areas, including coronavirus disease 2019 and myocarditis, immune-related mechanisms and immunotherapy, myocarditis associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors, advanced diagnostic methods (e.g. endomyocardial biopsy and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging) and various fatal clinical complications. The results of the bibliometric analysis of publication trends in myocarditis from 2000 to 2024 provide deeper insights into the existing literature on myocarditis.
