Examines factors promoting interdisciplinary work in teacher education, suggesting a shared vision and collaborative culture are key.
Interdisciplinary work in teacher education prepares future teachers to integrate diverse perspectives across different subjects. This article discusses how teacher education can promote interdisciplinary work. We asked: What do teacher educators perceive as factors for promoting interdisciplinary work in teacher education? We collected data through group interviews with teacher educators from three Norwegian universities. Our results suggest that teacher education promotes interdisciplinary work when creating a common and shared vision by breaking down territories and erasing boundaries between subjects of knowledge, building a common and shared vision through a collaborative culture, and facilitating a collaborative culture among teacher educators through team learning.
