Development of a highly sensitive immunoprecipitation assay allows for the extraction and concentration of cardiac troponin T from small human serum volumes.

Does not alter troponin testing or ACS management; leaves open clinical validation of the described cTnT assay.
Background. Purification and identification of small, low abundance proteins like cardiac troponin T (cTnT) from complex samples such as serum for use in immunoblot experiments has long been a challenge. Commercially available immunoprecipitation methods do not always allow the use of small sample volumes. We have therefore developed a highly sensitive immunoprecipitation assay for extracting and concentrating cTnT from human serum using small sample volumes and compared it with a commercially available method.
