This framework proposes a conditional rule governing evolution, suggesting human survival strategies are linked to resource management.
ABSTRACTThe Toumaï Code proposes that human evolution is governed by a single conditional rule: if hollow == True: plug_hollow(), else: maintain_equilibrium(). This "hollow" represents any deficit from calories to status. Survival hinges on plugging it using the most accessible resource. The framework formalizes 6 non-negotiable rules of evolution: (R1) No Goal, (R2) Everything is Paid, (R3) Environment Commands, (R4) Today's Advantage = Tomorrow's Liability, (R5) Tribe > Individual, and (R6) The Question Does Not Evolve. It introduces the Exaptation Corollary (R0.1): once baseline hollows are plugged, evolutionary surplus is redirected to art, ritual, and symbolism. The model is tested against 6 human revolutions from fire control 1.9 Ma to agriculture 12 ka. Climate data from Gough 1981 solar models and Sherwood & Huber 2010 wet-bulb limits projects a +15°C solar forcing scenario yielding 52°C wet-bulb temperatures at the equator, resulting in human death within 2 hours regardless of narrative or technology. The framework provides falsifiable predictions via the Lights-Out Test and cost ledger analysis, positioning it as a thermodynamically grounded alternative to progressivist and teleological narratives of evolution. It reframes culture as an exaptation, not a cause, of human survival.
