Scoping review identifies health justice integration in competency frameworks for regulated health professionals, indicating a shift towards equity in healthcare education.
OBJECTIVE: This scoping review will identify how concepts related to health justice are being integrated into regulated health professional competency profiles, frameworks, and directives. INTRODUCTION: Over the past decade, growing evidence has demonstrated the need to update regulated health professional competency profiles, frameworks, and directives to ensure the integration of competencies and concepts related to health justice. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: This review will consider published sources of evidence from 2015 onward that describe health justice concepts in relation to health professional competency profiles, frameworks, or directives in Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and the US. This scoping review will include both quantitative and qualitative methodological research designs. METHODS: This review will be conducted in accordance with the JBI methodology for scoping reviews. A comprehensive literature search of MEDLINE (Ovid), Emcare (Ovid), Embase (Ovid), CINAHL (EBSCOhost), and PsycINFO (EBSCOhost) will be conducted, along with a gray literature search using Google. Pairs of authors will independently screen titles and abstracts, then full-text sources of evidence, and extract data from the included sources. Any disagreements will be resolved with a third reviewer. Extracted data will be presented using tables and a narrative summary. REVIEW REGISTRATION: OSF https://osf.io/cq45g.
