Framework integrates laser-scanned data into VR for enhancing spatial interaction in cultural heritage sites, indicating significant educational potential.
Advances in laser scanning and geospatial technologies have enabled highly accurate 3D representations of cultural landmarks, yet these are often limited to conventional 2D viewing. This paper presents a framework for integrating laser-scanned point cloud data into a game engine to create immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experiences. The workflow includes point cloud processing, 3D model optimization, and VR system configuration for interactive exploration. Applied to a cultural heritage site, the approach produced a high-fidelity digital twin that enhances visualization, interaction, and spatial accuracy. The results demonstrate the potential of integrating laser scanning, VR, and game engines for cultural heritage preservation, education, and urban planning.
