Assesses Japan’s investment effects on youth empowerment in Botswana, suggesting enhanced policy collaboration.
This paper assesses the role of Japan’s investment in shaping youth empowerment in Botswana. Guided by documentary analysis, it explores Japan’s development assistance frameworks and their alignment with Botswana’s national youth empowerment strategies. The paper adopted Human Capital Theory and the findings reveal that Japanese investment has had a positive influence. However, gaps remain in the sustainability and inclusivity of programs, with rural youth and marginalized groups often underrepresented. The paper argues that stronger policy coordination between the two countries is needed to maximize the empowerment potential. It concludes by recommending the expansion of collaborative programs, increased investment in digital and the integration of youth voices in policy formulation.
